The South Tufa Area is located north of Lee Vining, and about 5 miles east of Highway 395.

Mono Lake is one of may favorite destinations in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, which I have visited several times. On this occasion, a fire was burning at nearby Yosemite National Park. I had no plans to photograph this event, until I noticed the effects of the fires reflections forming in the lake. I set up to photograph this interesting view and effect with the thought that I could share an image, giving recognition and thanks to all the firefighters and law enforcement that risk their lives to save homes and land.
