2015 Sony World Photography Awards Announces US Winner
Today the Sony World Photography Awards announced 54 National Award Winners.
Los Angeles photographer Courtney Colantonio-Ray has been honored with the “single best photograph taken by an American photographer” across the Open categories with her image ‘Dancer in Pause’.
Colantonio-Ray’s photo will be a part of the Sony World Photography Awards exhibit at the Somerset House, London, from April 24th to May 10th.

United States National Award winner revealed for 2015 Sony World Photography Awards

American photographer Courtney Colantonio-Ray who lives in Los Angeles is today named as the winner of the US National Award, part of the prestigious 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.
Colantonio-Ray’s winning image “Dancer in Pause” was chosen as the single best photograph taken by an American photographer entered into any of the ten Open categories of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s biggest photography competition.
Colantonio-Ray, a wedding and fine art photographer originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has won a Sony a600 camera and her image will be shown as part of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at Somerset House, London from 24 April – 10 May.
Talking about her win Colantonio-Ray comments: “I’m so honored to be chosen for this award, especially among such talented competitors who submitted stunning images. Thank you to Sony and the World Photography Organization for this wonderful honor!”
Describing the image she continues: “A dancer pauses during rehearsal to make small adjustments to her shoes and costume. The image was taken in June 2014 in Los Angeles while shadowing a dance company during preparations for an upcoming performance.”

The winners of all 54 National Awards were announced today by the Sony World Photography Awards. The National Awards programme honours and rewards the best single image taken by a local photographer and runs across the world from Argentina to Australia.
