Description

I am very fortunate to have family with a ranch in the sierra foothills, through which the Merced River winds for quite a distance. They've worked with the state and environmental groups for over a decade to restore their stretch of the river to better facilitate spawning for the dwindling salmon population. One of the results of the remediation is that a line of oaks that had grown close to the riverbank are slowly dying as the river reverts to its natural course; one of these old giants made for a beautiful silhouette against a saturated post-sunset sky.
