My backyard. I am partially disabled. This turned out to be a lucky break because it forced me to look more closely at what was right around me. It turned out that there are a myriad of interesting things to photograph within a few feet of my door.
A bird feeder is so commonplace and I suppose it has been the subject of a million photographs. But I watch ours every day (we have several) since they are in easy view of my picture window. The action around the bird feeders varies a great deal depending on the amount of food available, the types of birds, the time of day and the season.
A tree sparrow hovers in front of two house sparrows who do not seem particularly happy to see this dinner guest at their perch. This shot was taken at 1/180th sec at f /2.8 ISO 400. I wanted to capture the motion of the tree sparrow's wings while keeping a shallow depth of field for good bokeh.
