Verreaux's Eagle Owlet - First Flight- My safari vehicle companion, Judith, caught a glimpse of motion out of the corner of her eye as we were driving back to camp. We stopped, backed up and saw an owlet at the base of a tree. Above it was a nest with its parent on a nearby limb. It had just fledged from the nest and fallen to the ground. We watched in awe as this Verreaux's Eagle-Owlet spread its wings and took its first flight to a nearby bush right infront of our vehicle. The eagle-owl is the largest African owl.
