This photo was made at Stockdale Cove, one of my favorite places to photograph the moon rise in the fall. Due to the severe drought in the area, this year I was able to walk well out into the cove to compose the moon rising by some dead trees that would be inaccessible if water levels were normal. As I was setting up a shot of the moon, a heron flew by. Hoping it would fly in front of the moon I fired off several shots as it moved across the scene. Rather than keep just one frame, I decided to combine all the frames together into one photo, I thought this told the story of this photo best.
