This picture was taken within 10 miles from my home: I took this picture at nautical twilight last spring. They just started to put the scaffolding up around the Washington Monument a few days before the Cherry blossom festival. I feel sorry for the tourists, especially other photographers. The monuments in Washington seem to always be under construction. If you ever plan a visit, and want to take some pictures, I suggest you Google the subject first. The scaffolding around the Washington Monument is now being put up around the Capital dome. It'll be there for the next two years. They had been working on the Jefferson Memorial just before that. The reflecting pool is being worked on. That construction has been going on and off for years. They have construction lights on all night.
