Mt. Moran, Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park.
Nikon D100, Nikon 28mm lens, polarizer, tripod.
I lived in the Teton region for more than a decade and took too many images of Mt. Moran and Oxbow Bend to count. This is my favorite and I'll tell you why. I started the morning at sunrise at Schwabacher's Landing and then moved on to the Moulton Barn. A little after 10am I took a drive north to Oxbow Bend just to take a look. I knew there would be a pretty pic but nothing more as the wind usually kicks up by that time and ruins any reflection. Not so on this day, I arrived a bit before 11am and photographer folks like me were running all over the place. All trying to get that perfect angle. The scene was magnificent, perfect light and clouds and no wind. One could feel and hear the excitement. I heard "oh my god" more than a few times. This is and always will be my favorite Teton image not so much because of the image itself but for the reaction of all my fellow photographers.... like kids in a candy store. Whenever anyone mentions the Tetons this is the day and image that comes to mind. My perfect Teton morning. Not planned, just happened. 9/28/2006
