This photo was taken along the Oil Creek Bicycle Trail in Oil Creek State Park, north end.
Oil Creek and Drake Well State Parks adjoin each other in the vicinity of this shot. They are in the Valley That Changed the World, where Col. Drake drilled his first well and struck oil. Many nature and historical photo ops abound in this area.
While hiking the Oil Creek Bicycle Trail in April, I looked back to see what my friend Tim was up to. I found him in this position, his head and camera hovering mere centimeters above the mud in the ditch, grabbing a shot of a wildflower. Some of my best shots are of fellow botanizers getting in place for a great photo.
