Winter is my favorite time in the park, because the light stays lower and further south, running up through the park. In summer, the sunrise comes from due east, and the photogenic areas stay in shade until later. Once out of shade, the light is now harsh, with low contrast.
Roxborough Park is a park often overshadowed by nearby Garden of the Gods south in Colorado Springs and Red Rocks Ampitheater north in Morrison. These rocks come from the same geological formation as Garden of the Gods and Red Rocks; the difference is this is a tightly managed park, limited to walkers. No dogs, bicycles, motorized vehicles are allowed. The trails are also pretty gentle and short, allowing easy access throughout the entire park.
