This palace is a great symbol of the former Afghanistan versus the current. Guard posts and barbed wire still surround the area, but you still occasionally see Afghans walking or exercising on the grounds. It has recently been closed to photography, so I don't know if further pictures are possible.
This is the bombed out Darul Aman Palace in Kabul, Afghanistan. Previously a residence of the royal family of Afghanistan, it has been successively destroyed byt the Russians, the Mujahaddin, and the Taliban.
