Sunset at Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey, Wales. I had originally travelled to shoot the famous old lighthouse but with the weather against me I decided to walk around the island to check out potential spots for a future visit. Just as I was about to head off home unhappy the weather changed. The wind dropped and the drizzle disappeared revealing a fantastic sunset peeking from a gap in the cloud cover. With the sun disappearing quickly I didn’t have time to scale the rocks back up to the lighthouse so I quickly unpacked my camera and set up my tripod on the beach. I settled down to witness an unexpected beauty of a sunset with the light from the sun skimming across the waves before crashing against the surrounding rocks. You can make out Snowdonia in the distant background along the horizon. A bit about the place… Ynys Llanddwyn or Llanddwyn Island is a small tidal island off the west coast of Anglesey, North Wales. It is of geological interest with pillow lava, jasper formations and aeolian sand deposits. The island forms part of the National Nature Reserve of Newborough Warren which includes the extensive and floristically rich sand dune system; it remains attached to the mainland at all but the highest tides and provides views of Snowdonia and the Llŷn Peninsula. In 2004, Llanddwyn Island was used as a filming location in Demi Moore's romantic thriller Half Light.
