ISO 250, 70mm, multiple exposures with and without Graduated Neutral Density filter. The final image is a combination of HDR using Photomatix and separate exposures hand blended in Photoshop.
Pre-dawn on a January morning in Yosemite Valley, the valley floor was shrouded in mist and the grass was covered with frost. I worked abstracts of Alder trees in the dark, and as dawn started to break, the sky turned this amazing pink. There was a very wide dynamic range between the sky and the dark valley floor so I shot multiple exposures both with and without the GND filter. The sky lit up just as the mist was dissipating - another magical moment in Yosemite!
