Established in 1980 this lesser known park is by far the largest in the system. It is 6 times larger than Yosemite and 9 states are smaller than this park! The park is home to 9 of the 16 tallest peaks in North America, including 4 over 16,000', topped off by Mount St. Elias which ranks second at 18,008'. The park is home to 150 Glaicers, 95% of which are receding. Hubbard Glaicer has been advancing for over 100 years, it's current rate of advance is 80'/year. The face of Hubbard glaicer averages 300 feet above the waterline. What a great way to spend the day!
