I took captured this moment of Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park on the first night of a three day trip to the fort in early June, 2013. Upon arriving to the national park by a two and half hour ferry ride from Key West, I began exploring the island and fort for photographic opportunities. I found this stretch of moat wall still had the original bricks across the top (instead of concrete poured to stabilize and preserve the wall). I used my compass to orient myself and saw this section of wall pointed due West and thought "Sunset!" That evening, the sunset did impress and I was happy to have pre-visualized this shot.
