I have been chasing storms throughout the central plains for the past 12 years and have always dreamed of capturing a photograph like this. Each storm is uniquely different from the one before, but I knew what I wanted - a storm that captured light, peacefulness and fury, all at the same time. As I came out of the rain and into calmer skies, I was able to see the beast that was about to devour me. A beautiful golden glow emerged from behind the updraft and I was able to capture 6 vertical images to stitch together into this image. Then, the 80mph winds and large hail hit, and I lost site of the storm as quickly as I found it.
