Also known as Upper Horsetail Falls, the beautiful Ponytail Falls is located in the hills above Horsetail Falls in the famously scenic Columbia River Gorge in Northern Oregon. The trail to the falls actually wraps around through a cave behind the falls, allowing you to walk and sit in a 15-20 foot deep cave behind the deluge of water coming off the falls in front of you. It's an incredibly surreal place to experience. The falls may look peaceful here, but I worked hard to make them look that way. In real life, they are thunderously loud and kick out fierce winds that make this sort of long exposure impossible to shoot. To make this image possible, I had to make two exposures - a short one for the foliage and highlight details, and another for the milky stream water and shadow details. I'm pleased with the result, and I hope you enjoy it too!
