I had to wade into the murky, muddy water to frame this shot. I shot the initial foreground shortly after the sun set and then waited for a while for the stars to appear. Next, I returned to my camera and tripod, which I left in the water, and began to shoot the pictures for the stars. I blended the foreground with the stars using photoshop. I passed by this lake on my way to a camping trip to Arkansas. I immediately knew I wanted to return to shoot it at the first chance I got. When I arrived there, it was hot, muggy, and lifeless. The place seemed entirely dead. As soon as night fell, however, the place sprung to life. There were millions of insects flying everywhere, with spiders busy making webs in all of the trees, bats dancing through the sky, and fish surfacing everywhere to feed on the insects that mistakenly landed on the water.
