This was taken on one of those days when, at least photographically, it seemed like we could do no wrong. It seemed like everyplace we went was just perfect – great waterflow, super color – you name it, it was GREAT! The Smoky Mountains in fall are killer when you hit it right! This was taken taken around hour 7 or 8 of shooting that day, and I was getting a bit tired – and almost went for a swim as I set up. I went to step back and realized JUUUSSST in time that there wasn’t anything behind me to step on – but river! Fortunately, I managed to stay dry and grab this shot. I had to get low – and it was more than a little awkward to get my eye to the view finder perched there on the rock, but I’m glad I managed. I was really pleased with how this one turned out. I particularly like the deep black of the rocks in the river contrasting against the white water and brilliant fall colors.
