The water is still and like glass. It is here that female gray whales birth their young. It is here as well, the moms frolic with their young throughout the winter months. Incredibly friendly to the hundreds of human admirers who come to visit this habitat, moms and calves often swim so close to the small rowboats, that they touch the outstretched human hands. After nurturing and teaching their calves throughout the winter, moms and babies make the long trek back to Alaska for the summer months.
