Although I love Yosemite National Park for its iconic Valley landscapes, some of the best views of Yosemite are in its high country. While exploring the Tuolumne Meadows I made this 9 mile round trip trek to Upper Cathedral Lake. Earlier in the morning I had come down with the flu but a hamburger, some Dayquill, and a nap gave me the energy to get to Cathedral Lake. When I arrived I realized the view that I really wanted was on top of a couple hundred foot cliffs looming above me. After several attempts to find a way up, I finally found myself on top of the cliffs looking down at the lake. As the sun set, it lit up Cathedral Peak with a beautiful orange glow!
