These were blooming amongst trees and grass in my front yard. It was difficult to get great composition because they are small and low to the ground, so I had to crop a bit. I was able to use live-view to focus, and shot wide open at f/4.5 and 70mm, with the bloom a few inches from the front lens element. The bloom was about one foot above the ground, or less. As I tend to do, I was hand-holding, so that made it more difficult, especially since the lens isn't image-stablilized. Although I enjoy using a tripod, I find I get far fewer shots and less variety, while shooting. 1/60/sec; ISO 160; Exposure Compensation +1/3.
