Hector Lake is located about 20 km north of Lake Louise, along the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93N) in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
Although this image was originally shot on color slide film, the true drama of the scene was revealed after converting it to black and white in Photoshop. I made adjustments to the image to give the sky a dramatic dark tone to contrast with the fresh snow and clearing clouds. Thank-you Ansel Adams for inspiring me to see the winter landscape as having such dramatic potential when conditions are right.
A late autumn scene of clouds clearing over Hector Lake after a recent snowfall taken with a Canon A-1 camera on Fuji Velvia film. Image was scanned and converted to black and white using Photoshop.
