Congrats to Angela Service for winning the Worm’s-Eye View Assignment!

“This photo was taken in March 2013 on the Latourell Falls loop hike in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. I was on the trail back from seeing two beautiful waterfalls when this unique tree caught my eye. I wanted to capture all of it, from the very top to the bottom, but that meant getting as low to the ground as possible. I had to ditch my tripod because it wasn’t allowing me to get as low as I needed to. It was challenging at first, and a little dirty, but I managed to awkwardly bend and twist my body long enough to capture what I wanted. I converted it to black and white, and brought out some mid-tones and highlights,” says Service, who shot the image with a Canon EOS Rebel T1i and Bower SLY 358C 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye lens.

Awesome perspective and being in contrasting black and white sends this one over the top…you should be proud.

  2. Marius Says:

Nice capture! The black and white creates a nice imersion.

Where can someone see the full contest and submisions?

  3. Michael Kim Says:

Nice pic, but as assistant editor shouldn’t she be disqualified from even entering to prevent the appearance of favoritism?

Hi Michael! I’m the Assistant Editor and I created the blog post, but only to highlight the photo taken by Angela Service. I don’t submit to ANY of the galleries or contests. I simply get to enjoy all the photos taken by everyone else :) Once again, congrats to Angela! And thanks to everyone for submitting, Ashley
