Photo of The Day 8/3/2012

Posted By Christopher Robinson

Lower Falls by Tom Lussier

Tom Lussier submitted this photograph to the Your Favorite Places gallery for the state of Wyoming. As he writes in his description of the photo, it’s not your usual look at the Yellowstone River’s Lower Falls from Lookout Point. Most of us would have gone straight for a wide-angle lens to frame the falls from top to bottom, but Lussier saw the potential that a telephoto perspective offered. He also chose to make the photo a black and white because the colors in the scene were washed and subtle and didn’t convey the grandeur of the place. You can see the photo and Tom Lussier’s full description here. The Your Favorite Places gallery has thousands of photos to look at and help you plan a summer road trip. Take a look and submit your own images.

I select a Photo Of The Day everyday. Images come from the OP Galleries like Your Favorite Places, Assignments and the contest galleries. You can see more of my Photo Of The Day selections on the OP Blog.
