Photo of The Day 8/9/2012
Robin Black’s photograph of The Wave Formation is a perfect example of a scene that works well when it’s photographed under mid-day light. She sent this photograph to the Non-Golden Hour Assignment which is open for submissions until August 14th. She describes the shot, “Not all outdoor subjects are at their best during the golden hour, and the iconic Wave formation is one of them. Most of the formation is in shade until the sun is almost directly over overhead. Once the formation is fully lit up, some of the side passages catch beautiful reflected light, as you see here, and glow with intense oranges, reds and yellows.”
You can see all of the submissions and check out all of the other Assignment galleries here. I select a Photo Of The Day everyday. Images come from the OP Galleries like Your Favorite Places, Assignments and the contest galleries. You can see more of my Photo Of The Day selections on the OP Blog.

Wonderful shot! The line and the texture of the formation looks eye catching.
