Year in Review: Best Photos From 2012

Posted By Joseph Rossbach

Another year has passed and now that I have had some time at home this month to reflect on my favorite images from this year, I would like to share my personal favorite top twelve images from 2012.

It was an amazing year for me personally and profesionaly and one of my most productive in terms of creating new images from locations such as the Carolina Coast, West Virginia Highlands, Iceland, the Tetons, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and of course my favorite location the Desert Southwest.

This year I:

Spent over 120 days in the field

Drove 30,000+ miles

Flew 27,000 + miles

and hiked over 300+ miles

Here are the best of the best, in my humble opinion. Enjoy and please let me know what you think. Your feed back is always appreciated and valued!

Image One – Triple Falls and Kirjufell Midnight Sunset, Iceland

Image Two – Cascading Light, Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania

Image Three – Elakala Autumn Flow, Blackwater Falls State Park, West Virginia

Image Four – Seasons Passing, Dolly Sods Wilderness, West Virginia

Image Five – Last Light at Lindy Point, Blackwater Falls State Park, West Virginia

Image Six – Fire Wave, Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

Image Seven – Arch Angel Falls, Zion National Park, Utah

Image Eight – Mercury Rising, Cottonwood Leaves and Iron Bacteria Reflecting the Color of Canyon Cliffs, Zion National Park, Utah

Image Nine – Snake River Reflections, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Image Ten – The Boneyard, Botany Bay, South Carolina

Image Eleven – Oconaluftee Light, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina

Image Twelve – Under the Milky Way Tonight, Zion National Park, Utah

None of this would be possible without my fans and clients who read the blog, liked my photos, purchased prints & eBooks, attended workshops/tours and came out to see me speak at seminars and conferences. I thank you all for the kind and spirited support over the year and years to come. I have some really exciting adventures lined up for 2013 and hope that I will be able to help educate, inspire and entertain for another year. I look forward to seeing you in the field and online. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Be safe and best of light in 2013.

Joe, all are fantastic and reflect your dedication to and love of your profession. As an
amateur who has been photographing landscapes for about 38 years, I am inspired
by your work and learn a lot just studying the composition and lighting of your images.
Have a Merry Christmas and healthy and successful 2013!

Well in my humble opinion you nailed every shot here. As much as I love landscape photography, there’s so much of it around these days that often a good quality photograph just don’t do much for me any more – it has to be exceptional. Every one of your photographs here are exceptional. The light, color, and composition in each shot is superb. Thank you for sharing them here and giving me new ideas and inspiration.

  7. Ray Fuentes Says:

Your photos are inspiring. Even the wildest landscape gives a sens of peace and quietness. My favorites are 1 and 10.
