Magical New Zealand by Shawn Reeder

Since we profiled Shawn Reeder and his timelapse project, Yosemite Range Of Light in Outdoor Photographer, Reeder has left his home in the US and embarked on a filmmaking odyssey. His latest project is a new version of his Oneness New Zealand film. The new film is called Magical New Zealand. On his Vimeo page Reeder writes,  “I have always wanted to travel to New Zealand for as long as I can remember, and so when I decided to move out of my home of 10 years and start pursuing filmmaking around the world, I new the time had come. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made to leave my beloved home, but I was more ready than ever to embrace the unknown and explore the world. I spent three months in New Zealand traveling in a camper van having one of the most incredible times of my life. I enjoyed countless nights under the stars, towering mountains, magical rain forest, stunning ocean, and meeting people from all over the world. It changed my life forever, and I know I’ll never be the same.

“Magical New Zealand is comprised of 8,640 individual images from over 150,000 that were taken as I traveled around New Zealand for three months last spring. The inspirational music of Shaun Diaz is the perfect complement to this magical landscape.”

    Amazing work.

  2. Marina Nell Says:

Gorgeous video, but would pause, break-up, stop all on it’s own. Brand new computer less than a month old so can’t figure out why the video wasn’t showing. It’s a masterpiece the 1 1/2 minutes of it I managed to see.

  3. Karen Says:

I absolutely love this. Music is fantastic, and the stars are freakin unbelievable. I wish I had been there to witness these places in real time. Wonderful job. Now, where can I see the Yosemite video? :)

  4. steve berreman Says:

Yes exactly same problem as Marina Nell at 90 seconds. I so love your work Shawn, want to see it smoothly, maybe have to wait for Wild and Scenic film festival here in Nevada City someday though. I hope you grab a spot there one year soon, you’d be a blow away success!

  5. Joe Campana Says:

Same experience playing video, Vimeo’s the culprit?

    Magical is an understatement!

View on YouTube where it runs seamlessly:

I can not get it to run properly on Vimeo but it is outstanding on Shawn Reeder’s post on YouTube.
