Winter weather creates the opportunity for dramatic landscape photography and along the rugged coast of Washington in the Pacific Northwest, Dustin Penman took advantage of conditions to make this brooding image. “I captured this image at Second Beach,” writes Penman, “as a wild winter storm was beginning to clear.” Penman used a Nikon D7000, 10-24mm lens, tripod and cable release.
The photo was sent to the Your Winter Hotspots Assignment. That Assignment is open for submissions through tonight at midnight.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
