‘Cracks & Crag’ by Dan Holmes

Dan Holmes’ dramatic black and white rendition of this Utah landscape is today’s Photo Of The Day. Typical of much of the arid Southwest, torrential rainfalls do occasionally come through, and the evidence is in the erosion, mud cracks and scrubby vegetation. Holmes sent this photo to the  Dry Assignment. He used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF16-35 f/2.8L lens, Hoya circular polarizer, Singh-Ray Grad ND, Induro Tripod and ballhead.

The Dry Assignment is open for submissions through March 4th.

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.

I left a comment on the picture without knowing it was selected as a POTD. I am glad Mr. Christopher Robinson saw the same thing. Congrats on your award Dan! Lorenzo
