‘Rondout’ by Dean Cobin

Dean Cobin’s photo, Rondout, was submitted to the new Leading Lines Assignment. The photo was taken in New York’s Rondout Creek. Using a long exposure to blur the water and create smooth lines through the frame, Cobin leads the viewer from the bottom of the frame into the rugged canyon at the top of the frame.  He used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a 17-40mm lens to make this photograph.

The Leading Lines Assignment is open for submissions through April 1st. The winning image from the Assignment will be featured in the June issue of OP.

Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including AssignmentsYour Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.

I believe that should be “Rondout” Creek; not Roundout. I lived on it’s banks for the better part of 30 years. That aside, that’s an incredibly beautiful capture.

Thanks for the comment. We corrected the post.
