Paul Phillips submitted today’s Photo Of The Day to the Leading Lines Assignment. “This picture was taken at sunrise in Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Utah,” he writes. “I scoped the area out and picked the spot I wanted to be the next morning. I camped out at the park. As my friends slept I slid out of my tent with my camera gear. I walked over to the sand dunes about an hour before the sun came up. They had been covered by ATV tracks the day before. Lucky for me the wind had blown all night and wiped the tracks out, for the most part. I set up with my tripod and cable release. I took several pictures with different exposures and compositions. This scene had numerous distractions like grasses and ATV tracks around the edges. I had to really work on isolating those distractions out.”
Phillips used a Canon EOS 7D with a Canon 10-20mm lens mounted on a Slik tripod.
The Leading Lines Assignment is open until tomorrow, April 1st.
Photo of the Day is chosen from various OP galleries, including Assignments, Your Favorite Places and the OP Contests. Assignments have weekly winners that are featured on the OP website homepage and several images from the Assignment Gallery are picked to be featured in The Best Of Assignments section in the print magazine. To get your photos in the running, all you have to do is submit them.
