Torres del Paine & the Falkland Islands

Torres del Paine and the Falkland Islands! Nov 27 - Dec 12, 2015 (16 days)

This special tour combines two of the Southern Hemispheres' most incredible locations for photography, Chile’s iconic Torres del Paine National Park and The Falkland Islands. These dates have been specifically selected to coincide with the absolute height of springtime offering unsurpassed wildlife opportunities when most birds and mammals will be with their newborn babes.

There will especially be plenty of activity in Torres del Paine surrounding the Guanaco calving season, with predators such as Foxes and Pumas on the prowl and with Condors and other birds doing the clean up. Blooming shrubs and wildflowers will also be in abundance offering a special accent to the majestic Patagonian landscape.

The Falkland Islands are a wildlife Mecca and our primary focus will be on Penguins (5 species: King, Gentoo, Rock Hopper, Magellanic and occasionally Macaroni). Hundreds of Black-browed Albatross will be on the nest with their recently hatched chicks and we will also see dozens of other bird species, several endemic to the islands, in addition to sea lions, elephants seals, porpoise and other sea mammals. The wildlife in the Falklands is surprisingly approachable and, if one just sits quiet, many species will come to you!

The tour is led by American photographer/guide Rex Bryngelson, a long-time resident and operator of unique photo safaris in Patagonia, this modestly priced tour begins and ends in Punta Arenas, Chile.

Cost: US $6,750 based on double occupancy (single supplement + 20%)

*note: For Saunders Island portion in the Falklands, single accommodations may not be available. For more information contact: Rex Bryngelson, rex@patagoniaphoto.com, website: www.patagoniaphoto.com, ph/fax: 56982909371.
