RED Announcing D-SLR?

“Something Incredible” Coming November 13th

We reported in early September that RED Digital Cinema, a high-definition video camera maker, was going to release a new D-SLR into the market in 2009. Jim Jannard, C.E.O and founder of RED posted a comment in his user forum stating that his company would be “pushing the ‘big guys’ along’ (Canon and Nikon)” with a single-lens reflexive camera with higher resolution and better video capabilities, dubbing it the “DSMC” (Digital Still and Motion Camera).

Well, always one to provide hype behind RED’s announcements, he posted another statement yesterday on the forum mentioning an “incredible” announcement on November 13th, making us wonder if it’s their DSMC D-SLR.

Here’s Jannard’s latest posting:

“We will announce the new Scarlet and Epic programs on Thursday Nov. 13th.

I want to say that no one has any idea how incredible this announcement will be. Call this hype... please. I am quite sure that the announcement will be called a "scam". Should be a lot of fun to hear the reactions. I can't wait.”
