Bug Portraits

Bug Portraits
Outdoor Photographers don't often do portraits, but here's a notable exception: the interesting macro portraits of bugs that photographer Thomas Shahan creates. How does he first get these bugs in frame, then fill the frame, then ensure that they're also gorgeous and colorful images? It’s a feat unlike many others you’re likely to see, but the trick is somewhat simple: he takes his time and he works on a really small scale. In an interview at Photograview.com, Mr. Shahan explains some of the basics of his technique and answers the all-important question of why he chose this macro subject: “I realized that nothing man-made is really all that exciting up close,” he said. “I realized pretty quickly that bugs were one of the only things worth the effort.” Thanks to Brian Auer of Epic Edits for the link.
