Canon EOS 1D Mark IV

canonLast week I wrote about the new super-high-ISO capabilities of the new Nikon D3s. Well Canon was quick to respond with its own press release—announcing a super-high-ISO camera of its own by way of a brand new EOS. The 1D Mark IV is targeted for high-speed pro shooters who want high ISOs, more megapixels than the Mark III (16), improved autofocus and 1080p HD video recording. Rob Galbraith provides a great in-depth analysis of the technical aspects leading to many of the advancements in the Mark IV. Die-hard gearheads can visit Canon’s Digital Learning Center for copious amounts of technical data about the camera’s advanced autofocus system. And thanks to the power of the worldwide web, sample images and video can be viewed on Canon Japan’s product site. Canon USA’s product site fills in all the rest of the details, including the $4999 MSRP and planned late December availability—just in time for all the sports shooters covering the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
