Location Tagging With GPS

Writing on the ASMP’s Strictly Business blog, photographer Peter Krogh advocates location-based image indexing. He, like many photographers, utilizes specific keywords to help make finding the right photos at the right time an efficient and streamlined process. But he also makes a great point—why not take advantage of technology to do the job for you, and to do it much better. Location tagging via GPS, global positioning system, means that each shutter click can be assigned corresponding latitude and longitudinal coordinates. Krogh links to a video he made all about the benefits of GPS tagging. After that, check out Josh Weisberg’s OP story on “geotagging,” or the Digital Photo magazine story about the gear that helps photographers tag their photos with location coordinates.
