The National Geographic Image Collection

National Geographic has just published a book covering the last 120 years of the magazine’s reportage. The 500-page National Geographic Image Collection contains photographs from the organization's archive of more than 10 million photographs. When you consider how many thousands of images are made for a single story, it's easy to see how the archive got so large. Along with famous frames from the magazine, the book also contains less popular photographs and random outtakes from more than a century of shooting. To see a handful of the photographs, visit the New York Times Lens blog. To learn more and buy the book, visit the National Geographic store. http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/09/showcase-62/ http://bit.ly/26o7sf
