New Canon Full Frame In the Works?

Shouts, Murmurs and Speculation on a New Canon Full Frame D-SLR

There are plenty of rumors swirling on the Internet about Canon releasing an update to their EOS 5D D-SLR. Canon has remained tight-lipped over the past few months, and interestingly enough, while reading the 1001 Noisy Cameras blog, it seems as though Canon has been posting a new EOS Digital Web site that appears to be introducing an unnamed D-SLR. It simply shows the background of a moon and an EOS digital SLR that reads “Destined Evolution”, making us wonder if this could be the next full frame on the market. To read more about this, visit the 1001 Noisy Cameras blog here, or follow these links to see for yourself, http://www.canon.com/moon/zh/index.html, http://www.canon.com/moon/en/index.html, Canon Europe page here.

  1. Since we're reading this on a magazine's website, I'm assuming there's more than a little truth to the rumors. I was thinking of switching to a Nikon D700. I want to see how those cameras stand up to one another. It's my guess the canon blows the Nikon our of the water.
  2. I've been hoping for an update to the 5D for a long time. I want a full frame sensor because I have a lot of Canon lenses from my 35mm days, but I haven't wanted to pony up for the more expensive pro models. I would jump at a sub-$2000 full frame camera. Here's to hoping that Canon breaks another price barrier with this the way they did with the Rebel a few years ago.
  3. This is the news a lot of us have been waiting for. Hurry up Photokina! Has anyone found more info about this on the Web?
