Fortress Portable Hard Drive

One of my biggest concerns when I’m on the road is getting all my precious digital images back to the office and network, safe and sound. Will something happen to my computer, like it’s dropped and there’s a literal crash? Or what if my notebook is stolen and I lose my images that way? I solved the problem with the protection of a fortress, literally!

The Fortress is the only truly rugged portable hard drive. You can drop it from six feet up (I’ve done this many times in demonstrating it), and the hard drive just keeps on going. Used by the military in many countries, the Fortress has drive shock protection that exceeds four times the military standard, MIL-STD-810F. The beautiful and functional outer case is what gives the Fortress its name and rugged protection.
The Fortress comes in various sizes up to 100 GB (first on the market with this size in a 2.5-inch design) and incorporates integrated heat-sinking. This major killer of hard drives is eliminated. With performance of 5400 rpm and an 8 MB buffer, I believe it’s an excellent choice to protect your images.

The Fortress is a physically small unit, half the size of your basic D-SLR camera. I use one Fortress to take images with me on the road so I can make needed submissions and another to get my new images back to the office network. I’ve used the Fortress for years and it has never let me down.

Units range in price from $499 to $899, depending on drive capacity. You’ll find more specs listed at the Fortress Website at www.4tress.com.
