What was your first camera?

Postby ColinZylka » Sun Nov 30, 2008 8:51 pm

I'm always interested to inquire from photographer friends and colleagues what was their first camera....I'll start.....

My dad was a pretty avid photographer "back in the day" and gave me both his old Ciro-flex and his Busch Pressman with the roll film back. I guess I cut my teeth on these two "gems" before moving on to my Nikon F2.

Anyone else care to join in?

Colin.

Panasonic point and shoot.
sadly enough...I haven't gotten any bigger...*sigh* but I shall, one of these days.
I'm thinking one of the Canon's will be my next step.
"its the little things that make all the difference"
I'm a.k, a highschool student and learning all the things the Canon Rebel XSI can offer...advice is more then welcome. (:

The first camera I recall using was my moms...it was the kodak instamatic (i think that was the model) anyway,it had the little four sided flash cube you had to put on the top. Then my parents gave me a camera which was a 110 film cartridge Kodak when I was in elementary school (5th grade) to take with me on field trips when I lived in Germany.

My "first" was Pentax k1000 with 2 zoom lenses about 18 years ago. It was a hand me down. I still have a bunch of photos I took with that kit. I also still have access to the cmera, although I gave it back to my parents since I got my 1st DSLR 5 years ago.

I can't remember the brand, but it was an SLR that I picked up in on a trip to New York about 50 years ago. There used to be a lot of camera stores located in a certain area of the city and it was like going through a candy store. I believe I paid around $12 for the camera.

Kodak Instamatic - took about $17.00 worth of cactus pics when I was about 6 yrs old. That's alot of pictures in the '60ls!! Moved up to a 110. Got a Mamya Sekor (?) which went for a swim in Hawaii - never worked real well after that so went to a Pentax K1000 that was stolen, replaced with a Canan EOS Rebel 35 mm with I traded for a Nikon D40X. Whew...
