Well since ive had my new gallery i have been wanting to make a website to go with it, for more advertisment.
But i have no idea how to make, all i know is what programs to use and how i want it to look and alll that stuff.
i do know how to make them in Micrsoft publisher but i want a website that has a little slideshow on the side and have it in FLASH so it can do stuff like that. so i was wondering if anyone here knows how to make sites like that or know any place i could get tutorials????
My cousin has a website of his photography and wanted somthing like that, how it looks profesonal and idk its just really nice

You might want to think twice before doing some heavy flash work on a website.
A lot of people (including myself) find flash disturbing and too resource hungry. I tend to close a site immediately at the first sign of flash animation... same with music. I won't even give it a second chance.

What I use for my site is Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, awesome program that allows you to do pretty much anything. A good book to go for is "DreamWeaver CS3: The Missing Manual."

Mitchell, I curently use Frontpage (I know, it's not a real website if it's done in Frontpage) but its amazingly simple to use once you get the hang of it.

I'm currently in the process of teaching myself Dreamweaver with one of the Linda.com tutorials. It's around $150, but the exact same as taking a class at New Horizons or a similar institution like that. Some love the one on one classes, others would much rather want the ease of doing it on their own time.

I agree with Luca, flash and music is the first thing that makes me click off a site. I dont mind flash as much as music. If I hear music on any site, I click off of it immediately.

Good luck with the site. They're quite addictive, so be careful

Pat,

Hmmm not sure why you can't stand Dreamweaver, it's the most powerful web design program in the market. Maybe you used an old version when it was still Macromedia?
Photoshop is not for web design per se, and Image Ready has been discontinued (wasn't much for web design either except for gif animation).

Mitchell, my apoligies, it's Lynda.com with a 'Y' not and 'I'

http://www.lynda.com/?gclid=CKXS9NDHzpgCFQw9GgodtGMO1A

There is the link to the main page where you can order any of the DVD's you want. I also have the one for the CS3 and plan on having Cindy go through it so she isnt always asking me how to do a certain thing or have me edit her images for her.

Luca, thanks for the heads up, I'll give that book a look through and see if it helps this pea brain of mine.

Oh, and, dont try to do a website with Photochop, it's just for editing and graphics work, not for web building. But in a few years, I'm sure they'll have combined it all into one site. The Full Adobe suite is a nice package that bundles everything together for a complete website builder

I couldent stand dreamweaver becuase it was all in sentances like the had to hit space bar a bunch to make room for a photo, and it was the latest version of it..

Not sure what you mean... in any case DW has full integration of CSS which pretty much allows you to do anything you want. I use DW CS3.

I'm really not sure what you mean by doing "a lot of scripting" - What are you trying to accomplish?
DW has a very nice interface with a lot of presets and zillions of plug-ins to be found on the web that allow you to do pretty much anything that is possible doing on the website without getting crazy.
It's a professional website designer so it does have a learning curve, like any program that outputs quality stuff.
