Online Submission Guidelines for OP Contests

I want to submit photos to the "Your Favorate Places" contest but I have questions about the required format. All the Official Rules say is that the files are to be JPEG or GIF and less than 4 MB. I have an e-mail in to the contest editors but no reply yet.

OK so far but my questions are:

Can the photos be cropped to any shape or do they have to be a 3:2 ratio (the editors of the contest gallery have sized all of the thumbnails at or very near a 3:2 ratio).

Is there any advantage to uploading a 4 MB file vs. a smaller size file (Using PhotoShop I have started sizing the files that I want to submit to 12"x8" (3:2 ratio), 72 ppi, JPEG at highest quality. As such the file sizes are only in the 500-600KB range).

Perhaps I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be but inquiring minds want to know.

Hi Ed,

To answer your questions:

1) All thumbnails are auto-generated and get adjusted to a 3:2 ratio upon uploading.
2) As long as the photo looks good to you upon uploading, you may upload pictures of any size (up to 4 MB). Should the editors need a high-res version of your photo, they will contact you via e-mail.
