What Do You Think ?

Postby Edd » Mon Aug 24, 2009 2:42 am

Yesterday whilst driving to a horse show to photograph some of my wife's friends taking part we started talking about the post processing of the images.

Generally I select the best shots, usually about 20 or so edit those and them send them onto the person who wanted them.

My wife has seen on a couple of websites now where people are charging for a photographic service, you get to see all the shots and choose your selection and then they will only process those selected images.

My wife suggested I do the same to reduce the amount of PP involved.

I said no, I will only present by best work and I'll judge what is the best. All the best images need to be processed to make them look there best.

I couldn't understand why people would present anything other their best work, and also why they wouldn't be prepared to PP those images to make them look at there best. After all they are taking money for the service so why shouldn't the client expect anything but the best to be presented to them.

Whats your take ???

Ed

I'd agree with you Ed, I only post my best stuff, and would never show a potential client everything.

Jana and I just had a long conversation about this as she was telling me about another local sports shooter in her area that posts everything up to her galleries. She was saying that the parents of the students in the game didnt like to have to sort through ALL the photos, and were telling Jana how they liked that she only had a few shots up, but the shots that were up were all so top notch, that they usually bought one of each

That's my take on it
