Thanks for all the comments and this is exactly why a subject like this is good for all of us. It makes us all look at each image and tell why we like it, why we dont like it or what we might not like about it which in return makes us all better photographers

I only wish more people would have participated so we could have all gotten more into this subject. Maybe we should just keep the same subject for the next week and this time everyone can give it some serious thought and come back with more images to submit.

I had a lot of fun thinking this one up and it made me think about it all week long, so I know I'd enjoy doing it again. Anyone else want to join in??

Okay I have chosen to go for A.K's image.

For some reason to me this image has an air of mystry around it, why is she walking away? has she just spilt with a lover, has she just received bad new or is it something else. I like the idea that there is no defined answer if you see what I mean.

Out of the three images I found it very difficult to chose between Cindy's and A.K's, although finally coming down on A.K's image. I think Cindy's image had a clear defined story, but it was the mystry presented in A.K's that finally swung it. With both images the lack of colour seemed to add more to the image than the colour one.

Pats image I think reminded me of a slightly cleaner desk than mine so was probabley too close to home for me !!!!

Pat if you want to continue this next week go for it !!!!

Hi guys! I've been very busy lately and haven't been able to contribute much, other than to read most of the posts (keep the pics coming) and ban a few spammers. I think I mentioned in a previous post that we were moving our horse to a new barn. We finally got him moved and cleared all our gear and supplies out of the old barn. We've been selling a lot of the supplies since the new barn is a full care barn. Then our horse came down with an abcess on his hoof and cut his leg on a fence. While we have been tending to that, the new barn owner got her insurance bill with a $5000 increase and decided to just close the barn. So then we had to start looking for another barn. We have found one and will be moving again on the 18th - the day our horse can get back into action.

Other than that, my one grandson is in the high school band and this is football season - so it's run, run, run! Our older grandson is a senior in high school this year, so it's been one meeting after another - senior pictures, senior announcements, college campus visits, college recruiter visits, etc. Only one more college visit and one more recruiter night on the agenda, but that's subject to change. On top of this, we are homeschooling their younger sister (a freshman) and I prepare most of her lessons. My wife takes care of English and History and I get to take care of the rest of the subjects as well as the record keeping. I'm trying to relearn algebra after not having studied it for almost 50 years. Busy, busy, busy!!

Now that I've shared my excuses, I thought I'd comment on the images.

Cindy's pic probably tells the best story, but I like the hint of mystery in A.K.'s image. I think Pat's image shows just what a poor, lost-soul of a photographer he actually is - lucky for him that he has Cindy! :) I didn't vote since the topic may be extended and other's may contribute to the assignment. If my load should lighten, I'll try to add something (if I can remember how to use a camera).

Poll for Assignment 26 Sept 09

Postby Edd » Sun Oct 11, 2009 8:27 am

Hi Guys,

Sorry I'm late to declare the winner, but as we all can see its Cindy !!!!! Well done Cindy :D :D :D

I was hoping to do that Saturday morning seeing that I'm 5 Hours (at least) ahead of most of you. Car trouble and work got in the way yesterday Hey Ho.

Pat what did you want to do with the threads, ask people to continue to post images on the assignment thread and comment here ????

I don't know how long you want to run this topic for or if you plan to run another assignment alongside it, but that may be difficult for people to shoot for two assignments. I don't know how people feel about that.

Now I'm off out there to try and get some emotions and a story in my images !!!!

This picture was part of the inspiration behind my photo. This was taken in a cemetary in the Louisianna bayou. Behind the picture of the man is a card that is sealed in a plastic bag that says DADDY on it. The other part of my inspiration comes from a friend of mine who just lost her nephew in a car accident as well as 3 other boys who all went to the same school. She told me that all 4 boys loved to rodeo, they all had there wake and funeral at the same place. The boys were all around 18 years old and in there funeral procession her nephews horse as well as his dog followed the casket with his cowboy hat and wrangler gloves atop. Sad story I know but that is where the photo came from.

Now as for next week I think we could have two choices but all have to agree. We could either stick with this weeks topic and since we all have some ideas cooking in our heads right now, this could be good or I thought of another one.

"When I grow up I wanna" Unfortunately, most of us are grown up already but that should never stop us from dreaming or wanting to try something that we haven't already done. This could be a photo of someone or something that inspires you, someone that you look up to or even a photo of a house painter, doing what he does best. I often think about careers that I might like to do- teacher, foot model, stripper, funny man at the circus, all of those could be used. Put your own angle on it and it is really unlimited as to what one could submit.

Thanks everybody, this is fun and it really gets me thinking about photography in a different way.

I guess we could say (A) Last weeks topic
(B) New topic
If anyone wants to vote on this one.

I like the idea of a new topic, so my vote is for the "What do you want to be when you grow up" subject which would be a fun topic to work on for the next week or so.

What does everyone else think?

Ok, so it sounds like the new assignment will be to post a photo of what you want to be when you grow up.

I'll create a new thread for us all to start posting our photos in and once they're all posted, I'll start a thread with a poll so we can vote.

Good luck mates! Sounds like a good assignment for all
