Alrighty, I had a few minutes this morning, so I went back and resized the pics...should make it easier for everyone to see. Apparently I had the size option on one of my PS actions setup wrong...

Howdy Folks!
Well a local bank is having a photo contest for their 2007 calander. This contest really isn't that big of a deal...prize winners get $100 savings bond an 10 free calanders...as well as recognition for their work (my main reason for entering!). The finalists will be determined by the folks at the bank and then put on display and the winners will be chosen by the public. The theme is "Local Landmarks" and aside from the 3 I've already entered, I'm going to enter these as well...comments/opinions?

All shots except the last one were taken with my Canon Rebel XT and Tamron 70-300 Macro lens. The last shot was taken with my Sony H1. Feel free to read the EXIF data for details...

This is the Lorain Litehouse (again) with a sailboat coming in for the night. I did "beef up" the colors in a little in PS as well as my usual array of tweaks and adjustments.

Sunset, Sandusky Bay, Sandusky Ohio. For those familiar with the area, yes, Cedar Point was pretty much directly behind me :-).

Another of Sandusky Bay. This was really a "grab shot". I saw the boat motoring in, pre-focused the camera and just waited till it was against the sunset. Again here the colors were enhanced in PS...used the Nik warming/cooling filter on this one then blended it with the original colors. At the very least, I think my panning technique is improving (LOL!).

Alrighty...I honestly don't remember taking this shot. I was going thru my old pics to see if there was anything else I could use for this contest when I ran across this shot. I must have shot this one from Lakeview Park here in Lorain...can't remember any where else that I was shooting sunsets at around that time. According to the date, it was right after I got my Sony H1 last year and no, those colors are NOT Photoshop'd! It looks like I must have used a red filter on this shot, but I don't have any color filters that fit the Sony (the Sony's a 58mm and all my color filters are 52mm), so I'm not really sure exactly what I did here... Either way I think it's a pretty shot, so it's going in the photo contest too! LOL!!!

(Edit/update: Got this one back from the printers yesterday and ended up with some weird colors coming off the sun...looks like some kind of posterization or something around the top. This is still the original image, but it has since been edited and "cleaned up" a little)

Alrighty, comments and opinions please. These shots are going to the lab soon, so I'd be grateful if anyone see's anything I may have missed on these shots (other then the heavy posterization on the buoy shot). I'm sure they could be a tad sharper, but for 4x6's, they should be "sharp enough".

Bright Blessings & Gentle Breezes,
Jim
