Bare poplars...

Postby Pete PT » Thu Jan 10, 2008 8:14 pm

December sunrise, 28F and frost on the ground. You will find many of my compositions as an impressionistic approach. I do USM similar to the technique shown on OP, but I'd rather err as under sharpened than over.

My style represents photo essays as paintings from our mind's eye.

Enjoy and best regards! Oh yes...the "hand of man" is again present in this composition in many forms. :)

Great shot, I look at that and it reminds me of a watercolor.

Have you looked into MPix and their different ways they can print images on? I had a cool picture printed on Rag Paper and stretched across a board and everyone that sees it walks up and touches it thinking it is a watercolor. The paper allows the ink to bleed a bit, and really looks stunning.

I think I got a 16"Hx24"W printed and delivered in 24 hours for under $100. I dont work for MPix or get any kick backs, but they are a great little business with a phenominal turn around time.

That shot would look great in a format like that.

I like some of their papers but, strangely enough, my dealer does a superior job of printing. I think it may be because I have PhotoShop and my monitor calibrated to their printer output.

Thanks again all! :)

I'm jealous you have a local lab that you can work like that with. I never had that luxury and had to use labs that I could find online.

Back before digital came out, I used to work with a lab in Florida when I lived there and it was amazing. You could go into the lab while they were processing your prints and work with the technition. It was like sitting with a computer expert now-a-days and watch them work on your images.
