White House Ruins

Postby Stan Z. » Thu Mar 20, 2008 2:17 pm

I was rummaging thru my files looking to see what I could delete, and came upon this photo- it's kind of an iconic shot- it seems everyone has done it, but anyway.....These ruins are located in Canyon de Chelly in northern Arizona. If you look closely in the lower right center of the picture, you can see a petroglyph done by the Anasazi before they disappeared.

Hey Stan, Great shot and you nailed it well!

Like you I couldnt wait to get there and try my luck with this Iconic shot that Ansel Adams made so famous.

Image

There is my version and like the master, I tried to immatate his masterpiece with mine in Black & White

This whole area was just a photographers dream and well worth the crazy 4x4 drive through the deep sand to get to it.

Hi Pat! How's Baja?

Ya know? For some reason I just had a "mind dump" when I was shooting that, and completely forgot about Ansel Adams' shot! Otherwise I would have tried the re-creation like you did. Nice job!

You're right- the 4x4 ride in the Mercedes truck was quite an experience. I SWEAR those truck are re-treads from the WWII German Army....

We chose not to take the Shake and Bake truck as the locals call it. We took our own truck in and I'll tell you it took a beating that day!

But those things do look like they could go through everything!

Baja is amazing! If I could find a fast connection and enough time to sit still to upload some of the photos, I would show you how much fun we're having

Well be back in Arizona in the first of April if you're still around, we could meet up for a meal or drink if you want
