Sunrise 9/28/2009

Just a couple I caught on my way to work yesterday. The second one is an HDR and I am really not sure if I like it much or not. It does bring out the foreground more, but I am not sure if it is in a good way. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for looking, Ron

I really like the HDR picture but if it the forground was lighter so there was more detail i think it would maybe look better..

if there is a trick to having the foreground light in a sunrise/set photo, I don't know what it is. I suppose that is what photoshop is for?? We addressed that problem in a painting workshop, since you can't see the foreground in the photo you have to kind of make one up. I guess having a photo of the area during daytime would help, but then it wouldn't look very realistic. But your sky colors are great.

Hi Ron,

I like both images but for some reason the 1st one is the preferred. I think I prefer to see the silhouette of the foreground.

I'm just reading a book now call "The Perfect Exposure" and in that the author talks quite a lot of what we expect to see in images makes a big difference as to whether we like them or not. This is something I had never considered before. So I guess I prefer the 1st one because its probably closer to what I expect to see at sunrise ????

Still learning with Canon 40D, 28-135mm, 100-400mm L and Elements 6.
Any Advice greatfully received.

I like the first one.

To get the sunset and foreground the same exposure maybe useing some ND grad filters would get you the results your looking for.
