Twin Peaks Eklutna Lake Alaska

Postby totalyfrozen » Sun Aug 08, 2010 11:14 pm

A few photos from todays hike to the Twin Peaks above Eklutna Lake just outside of Eagle River Alaska. I took these photos using a friends 20D, I lent him my 5D since he was taking a trip through Zion this week.

Eklutna Lake and there is a road all the way around it that you can take to go back to the Eklutna Glacier. This photo was taken at the 3329 FT level.

This was first for me, I usually spend the time getting to places 4X4 ing in my jeep not hiking LOL. but these last few weekends have been great with the hiking to these points that I have lived around all my life and never bothered to climb them till now. Lots of fun, but we missed the cub and the black bear that was down the trail, another group of hikers was able to see it scooting down the path chasing after its mother. This trip as a 6 mile round trip hike, so not bad and the trail as well maintained up to the 2 mile mark, then it after that you just picked one of the several paths and just go to see were it would take you. Lots of fun though.
